A warm welcome to Hong Kong Women in Publishing Society (WiPS).

We are an international group of women based, or previously based, in Hong Kong who are either involved in or interested in some aspect of publishing. We’re writers, poets, artists, photographers, illustrators, editors, proofreaders, copywriters, graphic designers, journalists, publishers, or quite simply people who enjoy the written word.

Come join us and meet like-minded people at our events. Engage with our speakers. Join our Facebook group for more publishing related news, job opportunities and projects before they hit the classifieds. Or, just come along to our regular social networking evenings.

As members of our society, you can increase your visibility by being listed in our MEMBERS’ DIRECTORY. You also have the opportunity to be featured online in:

  • MEMBERS’ SHOWCASE – a platform where members can present or display a work of their choice
  • WOMAN AT WORK – a chance for members to share their creative journeys, introduce their work or their businesses, and in doing so inspire others
  • PODCASTS – an opportunity for members to describe face-to-face how they’ve arrived at where they are in their careers and to promote their work

If you’ve always wanted to see your name in print, now’s your chance. WiPS members have the opportunity to be published in IMPRINT, our annual anthology written and produced entirely by members (and sold at major bookshops in Hong Kong).

“IMPRINT 19 is Hong Kong at its best. With a melange of prose, poetry, and photography, this collection brings together all that makes Hong Kong unique: a blending of cultures and experiences. The women of IMPRINT 19 write about locations across Hong Kong, but also faraway places like Bhutan, New Zealand, Nigeria and Turkey, stories as distinct as the women of WIPS.” — Susan Blumberg-Kason, author of Good Chinese Wife: A Love Affair with China Gone Wrong

The 19th and latest issue of Women in Publishing Society’s annual anthology was released in early June 2020 and offers an exciting collection of new fiction, essays, memoir, poetry, travelogue, commentary, humour and artwork from more than FIFTY of our members. Imprint 19 makes a GREAT Hong Kong souvenir present for family and friends.

“Women of WiPS: please keep writing about our beloved city – whether your words delight or distress, these are the memories that we will one day cherish.”
Claire Chao
Author, Remembering Shanghai, Rubery Prize Book of the Year
