CREATIVE WRITING and AI: A Challenging Alliance

For two years, AI tools have been whipping up everything from business emails to academic papers in a matter of seconds. As these tools get smarter, we become more reliant on them. But what does this mean for Creative Writing? These platforms are here to stay, whether used to correct grammar or to generate story ideas – and more. How does this place you, the writer? Join us as Dr. Page Richards unravels the somewhat uncomfortable and definitely permanent relationship between AI and Creative Writing. How do we navigate the murky waters of technology and creativity and what does it mean to be original today when writing poetry or prose?

Dr. Page Richards, Co-Founder & Creative Director of GUILD Hong Kong, brings international expertise and unwavering commitment to Creative Communications in Hong Kong and worldwide. Page grew up on stage as a professional performer world-wide; worked in Hollywood in script development and film production; graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with honors in mathematics and poetry; holds a Ph.D. with honors from Harvard University; and was a Professor of English literature, drama, and served as Chair of Creative Writing & Theatre at The University of Hong Kong, founding the MA in Creative Communications (MACC) and the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing (MFA).
