Three reasons not to miss this:
1.ā ā Something new: Weāre piloting our first short story book club session. Be the first to craft new WiPS offerings.
2.ā ā Mix it up: Short stories are like magic tricks, unfolding and delighting in short and sweet episodes. Explore a different genre and expand your reading horizons this month.
3.ā ā No pressure to finish a whole book: With four shorts to choose from this month, you donāt need to try squeezing a tome into your busy post-summer month.
Our reads for this month:
* The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas by Ursula LeGuin
* Better Be Ready ‘Bout Half Past Eight by Alison Baker
* The Lottery by Shirley Jackson
* A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner
Read none, one, or all and look forward to chatting with the group about a new form and style of writing.
But actually⦠why no novel this month? Due to the book we originally chose being unavailable in Hong Kong, and the less expensive paperback version not yet available anywhere, we have decided to postpone our discussion of The Original Daughter by Jemimah Wei. Weāll revisit this exciting title later on!
Once you register, youāll receive the stories as PDF files, then a Zoom link closer to our meet-up on the last Monday of the month.
