The first challenge that a writer/artist faces after completing their work is to find the correct channel or platform to publish ‘their kind of writing’, but this is only one part of a larger process. WiPS member Celia Claase will lead this session to help the writer consider various elements of bringing their work to a larger audience. This includes:

  • Intentions for wanting to publish
  • Writing genre/sub genre
  • Audience
  • Publishing channels and platforms
  • How and where to submit
  • How to build up their biography

WiPS members and friends who have yet to publish or would like to expand their publishing portfolio are invited to join this workshop.

Celia Claase’s book of philosophical narratives and poetry won the 2014 International Proverse Literary and additional Publishing Prize. Her writing has been published in magazines, University and other journals and anthologies. One of her short stories was longlisted for the prestigious Fish prize and won a prize in a LitNet flash fiction competition. The Hong Kong Drama Festival recognised her for writing an outstanding stage script. She has presented several creative writing workshops and book talks in Hong Kong and is this year’s co-coordinator of the WiPS Short Story Competition for Young Writers. Admission: HKD100 for WiPS members, and HKD200 for non-members.
